DAVIDBURSTEIN

David is an expert in all things Millennials; he is a millennial focused author, speaker and filmmaker. He just so happens to be a millennial himself. He has created two films based on elections for young voters (18 in 08’ and Up to Us), and founded a nonpartisan young voters organization, Generation18, from the earlier. David frequently speaks about millennials to the media, including CNN, FOX News, The New York Times, NPR and MSNBC.

CORALREEFREGENERATION

Coral Reef Regeneration (CR2) is a scientific endeavor that aims to restore, conserve and save coral reefs. Students Liam Schumm, Fiona Repp and Emre Kivanc (student part of this taskforce) first take classes on marine biology and Caribbean/Spanish history to prepare. With this information, they make outreach opportunities to Shedd Aquarium where they create things that will accomplish their mission, such as Remote Operated Vehicles.

SEBASTIANERRAZURIZ

Sebastian is an internationally exhibited artist and designer, New York based, Chilean born. He work has been exhibited in over 40 exhibitions, with prestigious designers and artists. He is preparing for his first solo exhibition at the Carnegie Museum of Art. Sebastian has been featured in over 1000 articles in the media such as CNN, BBC, ABC, The New York Times and Wall Street Journal.

TAMARAHGEHLEN

Tamarah is a licensed marriage and family therapist, as will as licensed alcohol and drug counselor. It is her job to counsel, help and heal teenagers with mental illnesses. She runs a residential program for just this, as will as another outpatient program for all ages. Tamarah is also an author and an educator, who teaches at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

VANESSAGERMAN

Vanessa is a Pittsburgh based artist who dabbles in preforming, poetry, sculpting and playwriting. Her work extends far beyond the stage or the page however — Vanessa created ARThouse in 2012 to create change for the youth that grow up in a violence ridden Homewood. ARThouse has also created more violence preventing ideas, such as signs that encourage people to “STOP SHOOTING. WE LOVE YOU.”

BETHHORN

Beth is creating a more linked world, one connection at a time. She is an U.S. business lead at Facebook where she oversees client relations and product growth. Beth has a background in all things connecting; her experiences include online retail, marketing and paid search. For her TEDx talk, Beth will be discussing the role social media plays in connecting us to create a more linked world.

JESSESCHELL

Jesse is an innovator, of game design and development specifically. He has worked designing online games and rides for Walt Disney, and then joined The Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon. Jesse then founded Schell Games, and published The Art of Game Design, which was praised from its practicability and understandable read.

JULIESOKOLOW

Julie is an award-winning independent filmmaker, indie music artist, and experimental writer. Currently, she is working on Aspie Seeks Love, a documentary circulating a man diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome and his trials with love. Julie has been profiled in the New York Times on her and her work Healthy Artists, which profiles independent, unisured artists in America.

 

CAMERONTONKINWISE

Cameron’s work focuses mainly on the philosophy of sustainable growth and design. He worked as a sustainability expert in Australia before taking over duties of teaching in America, like creating new Design Studies at Carnegie Mellon. Cameron also talks about Sharing Economy, the interdisciplinary challenges of the 21st century, and how we will soon no longer live singular lives.
